Acres is a local-first visual Markdown workspace for macOS and Windows. Arrange notes as cards on an infinite canvas, connect related ideas, and organize research with mindmaps, sections, tags and properties. Notes stay in a folder you own. Built-in AI and external agents through MCP and CLI can help search, write and organize notes, with reviewable edits and undo history. The full app has a 14-day trial, then a $59 USD one-time early-adopter desktop license. After the trial, notes remain accessible in read-only mode until purchase.
Acres addresses the need to connect and organize notes visually while keeping Markdown files in a user-owned folder. The canvas shows relationships between ideas, and AI can work with those notes through a reviewable editing workflow.
