About This Launch
A Star Named is a memorial web app. Enter a date, time and place, and it computes the sky overhead and shows real star candidates from the HYG catalog as a free preview. You can then name one and get an instant digital certificate and an interactive 3D sky view. It is made for people and pets. Naming is commemorative only and is not recognized by the IAU.
Why I Built This
People look for a lasting way to remember someone they loved, including pets. A Star Named uses a date, time, and place to find real HYG catalog stars, then lets you name one as a commemorative gift with an instant digital certificate and interactive 3D sky view. Naming is commemorative only and is not IAU-recognized.
