Talk is one public live text stream. Anyone can read without registration. To write, you create a Passkey-based Identity. There are no rooms or private channels: #tags only filter the shared stream. Ordinary messages are live and are not kept as a permanent conversation history.
I liked old text chats where the important thing was being there at that moment. You saw a message only if you were present. But I did not want to bring back rooms and closed spaces, so I built Talk as one public stream where each user can filter what they want to see. I want to find out whether this kind of communication still makes sense today.
