About This Launch
Rocksday is a daily guessing game. Identify the rock, mineral or gem of the day from a zoomed-in photo in six guesses. Each wrong guess zooms out and sharpens the photo and unlocks clues in order: type, color, hardness, structure and location. A new puzzle starts at midnight UTC, and there is an optional hard mode.
It is free, web only and needs no account. Stats are stored in your browser only. The library holds 374 specimens, with photos from Wikimedia Commons under free licences.

Why I Built This
Rocks and minerals are easier to learn by looking than by reading a list. Rocksday is a free daily game for practicing identification of real specimens from a photo.
