doc.cheap is an MCP server that lets an AI agent read a passport or ID card into structured fields: holder details, document details, expiry status and MRZ verdicts. It runs locally over stdio from npm, or hosted over Streamable HTTP at mcp.doc.cheap. The six tools are scan_document, check_balance, search_docs, list_scans, get_scan and delete_scan.

Pricing is $0.01 per recognized document, flat across all accounts and volumes. You are charged only when a document is recognized, so scans that find nothing, cannot read the image or cannot identify the type are free. Accounts get 100 free documents every month, used before paid credits. A public sandbox key gives 10 free recognized documents per IP address in total, at most 10 requests per hour. Sandbox scans are stored for one year, so use test images only.

doc.cheap is built so an AI agent can read a passport or ID card into structured fields, with flat per-document pricing and a monthly free allowance.
