Coding Tools MCP is an open-source MCP server that lets AI chat clients and agents work on a codebase. It offers 18 to 19 tools, depending on permission mode, covering file read and search, structured multi-file patches, command execution and interactive sessions, and git, all confined to one workspace root. Clients include Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Cline, VS Code, Windsurf and Gemini CLI, or a custom agent.
Free and open source under the Apache-2.0 license, with no pricing. Install with uvx or npx. Permission modes are safe (the default), trusted and dangerous. Landlock filesystem confinement is used on supporting Linux hosts, and a Docker sandbox image is provided.
