Autoplay Stopper is a Manifest V3 Chrome extension that stops HTML5 video and audio from playing on their own, so media starts only when you click play. It catches media added later by scripts and players inside iframes and Shadow DOM, can block muted autoplay, and pauses videos that a site unmutes without your click. Toggle it per site, choose allowlist or blocklist mode, import or export settings, and use light or dark mode.
The base extension is free. Optional Pro is a one-time 3.99 EUR with no subscription, one key for up to 3 Chrome browsers, and adds Chrome sync of site rules and wildcard rules. No analytics, no ads, no tracking.
I was tired of videos and audio starting on their own on news sites and feeds, and several classic autoplay blockers stopped working after Chrome moved to Manifest V3. So I built a new one that only plays media when you click.
